• What is Mundisanitas?

Mundisanitas is an insurance policy that combines reimbursement of costs with health services provided through the company's approved doctors and centres. This means that the person covered can use the health services provided by Sanitas approved doctors and centres without paying any excess, or can go to any doctor or clinic outside the Sanitas list as a private patient either in Spain or any other country in the world.
If I choose a doctor or centre outside Sanitas' approved list in Spain, what will I have to do?
In this case, you would pay the amount due to the doctor or centre and then send the invoice to Sanitas together with the other documents needed. We undertake to reimburse you 80% of the cost of the services covered by the policy within a maximum period of 10 working days from the documentation being submitted.

Which documents will I have to provide in order to be reimbursed?

Apart from the invoice, you should submit: a) In the case of medical consultations: - a correctly filled in application for reimbursement. - proof of payment of the invoice. b) For hospitalisations and surgical operations: - a correctly filled in application for reimbursement - proof of payment of the invoice - a medical prescription for the operation or hospitalisation. c) For all other cases: - a correctly filled in application for reimbursement - proof of payment of the invoice - medical prescription for the service in question.

Apart from through Sanitas list of Approved Doctors and Centres, am I entitled to 100% of the cover in any other case?

Yes, provided that you are seen by a BUPA doctor or clinic (United Kingdom) or United Healthcare (United States), you will not have to make any payment if these services have been previously organised through Sanitas.

If I use the BUPA or United Healthcare services directly, what will happen?

If you did not organise the care through Sanitas, you would have to pay the invoice and then submit it to Sanitas with all the other necessary documents, as described above, and we would reimburse 80% of the costs within a maximum period of 10 working days from the document being submitted.

Which prostheses are covered?

Internal bone replacement prostheses and orthopaedic surgery, and vascular prostheses and heart valves (including pacemakers), except artificial hearts, prescribed by a doctor.

Are dentist's fees covered?

Once you have contracted Multisanitas, you will be entitled to one dental hygiene session per year, teeth extractions, together with the stomatological cures arising from these and the x-rays, with a 50,000 peseta (300,51 euro) limit per insured person per year. If you would like additional cover, you have the option of taking out Dentisanitas as a supplement to your reimbursement policy (750 pesetas - 4.51 euros/insured/month).

We will reimburse 90% of in-patient medical costs and 80% of out-patient medical costs within 10 working days, always provided that the services have been handled by Sanitas. To deal with such situations we have set up an international customer help line which is manned by a painstaking team of professionals who make sure that everything is done correctly.
